   What is that big blank space when my Windows loads?

 

When your windows loads a screen will pop up like this one in diagram 1:1

That blank space with the small pictures on it is called the desktop. Here you will find small pictures or as we tech’s call it, icons. Each of these icons is an actual shortcut to the actual program on the Hard Disk.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

How do I know where I saved my documents?

On the desktop you will see a manila folder with sheets of paper in it and that is the My Documents icon. Double click on that icon to view which files you have that are contained on your Hard Disk. To view the contents of a floppy disk (small square disk) :

 

  1. Insert the floppy disk into the floppy drive

 

  1. Go to the My Computer Icon on the desktop

 

  1. Double click into the My Computer Icon

 

 

A screen will pop up like this:

Here you can double click into the 3-˝ inch floppy (A:) to view and enter into the document that you want.

 

 

Saving a document

To save a document you want to do the following steps:

 

  1. Go to File

 

  1. Save As

 

  1. Name the document want you want and click Save

To save documents you already have produced do the following steps:

 

  1. Go to File

 

2. Click on the Save button
